About…
This is my blog on the Great State of Hawaii. I have visited three of the main islands, Oahu, Hawaii and Maui. My favorite Island so far is Oahu, I know you thought I was going to say Maui. Maui is nice and has excellent beaches but I still like Oahu better. I usually get a hotel room on the main drag in Waikiki not on the beach but a block or two from it.
My sister in law calls Waikiki, Denver with a beach. I guess that is a fair comparison but if you like to dine out and maybe shop or visit a club Waikiki has all that and more including the International Market Place. I’t’s a quick drive to the east side of the island over the Pali hwy to world class beaches such as Kailua. I can’t recommend Waikiki beach though it’s nice and sandy but step a few feet into the water and bottom is all rocks, sharp pointy rocks. Not fun for swimmers. If you plan on just soaking up the sun on the sand then Waikiki is a fine beach.
I recommend renting a motorcycle or scooter to tour the island, there are many places right on the strip that rent all manner of vehicles. I usually rent an HD Fatboy since it’s a nice cruising bike. Rent for the day it’s a long ride around the island. Though do this on a weekday, traffic heading to the beaches on the weekend is much heavier then during the week. There is no helmet law but you must wear eye protection, sunglasses will do.
Another don’t miss adventure is Peal Harbor. The Arizona memorial is a sight to see, this is where WWII started and on the other end of the harbor is the USS Missouri where the Japanese signed the surrender to end the war. Great for history buffs.

As I visit more Islands I will update this blog……
